What was I trying to achieve?
My aim was to show the harmony that exists between the different elements of nature depicted in this picture: humans, water/ ocean and earth/ rock; to continue exploring the interconnectedness; to look at the way these elements interact with each other.
Has this been achieved?
I’ve decided to use colour (not black and white) in this picture to emphasise the harmony, integration and similarities between the elements. For example, both the waves and the rock have strips of blue and yellow-orange colours (their sequential appearance suggests certain order, stability and direction).
It’s interesting to note that the word harmony is synonymous with accord, concord and synchronisation (sequence).
The colours also point to the time of day when the picture was taken: the beautiful colours of sunset combined with the calmness of the sea convey an atmosphere of quiet reflectiveness and harmony.
The main elements of the image (the humans, the rock and the sea) seem connected by the tidal line (I adjusted the Clarity values to bring the line more into focus). The two figures stand out on the background of the sea and the sand and it’s clear that they are also connected (slightly leaning towards each other).
It is interesting to note how the meaning of the main elements of the image transformed in comparison to the previous interpretation: for example, the sea becomes more of a reflective, colourful, calm, moving, fluid and harmonious entity.
The image, in my view, enhances the connectedness and the harmony existing between the main elements reasonably well, in comparison to the original picture.
